English as a Second Language - ESL Chapter 5 Flashcards
I decided to do the ESL files first, and here is Chapter 6. Topics include: Clothing, Seasons & Dates, Weather, Adjectives, Adverbs, Verbs. There are over 125 words in this file. Enjoy!
Azeri Chapter 10 updated
I just added pictures to Chapter 10 of the Azeri flashcards. When I was creating these original flashcards I didn’t have time to find pictures for that chapter, and finally got around to it. So after 7 years the first complete set of picture flashcards are available.
In case you are wondering, it won’t take another 7 years to complete the next set. In fact, the Estonian cards should be complete soon, followed by either ESL or Make Your Own. I haven’t decided yet. If you have a preference let me know soon!
A very busy month/More Estonian files
In the past 6 weeks, we have added 48 new files!! And more should be coming soon…
Cristina has checked over five more Estonian files: Travel List 1 and 2, and Chapters 3-5. You can find them here.
I have chapters 6-10 to work on and Estonian will be the second complete language on the site!!
2 More Chapters of Make Your Own FlashCards
Chapters Four and Five are online. I have had several hundred downloads of these files, but no comments yet. Please email and let me know how you are using them, and if you have any suggestions.
Chapter Three of Blank/Create your own picture flashcards
There are now three chapters in the Make your own Picture Flashcard section. Chapter three includes: Meat, Drinks, Dessert and Other Foods, Friends and Family, Greetings and Phrases, Time Words, Adjectives, and more Verbs.
Let me know how you are using these.
Chapter Two of Blank Picture Flashcards
Now you can download Chapter Two, or the individual sections, including the following topics:
Please don’t forget to email me the new translations so I can post them onto the site!
Make your own Flashcards
I have just added the first chapter of what I hope will be a great aid to helping you create your own picture flashcards, and help make more flashcard files in different languages available! For the quick info, click here to go to the Make your own Flashcards page.
If you want to know more, keep reading…
My initial vision has been to create picture flashcards in as many different languages as possible, especially the languages that have fewer commercial learning tools available. I have relied on web based resources, and volunteers who have supplied me with some translations. Last October Cristina sent me all twelve chapters of the Estonian language. I was so excited, as it was the first time anyone had done all the files. Well, it is almost 4 months later, and I have only gotten the first few chapters reformatted and online. I feel awful that she did so much work, and I have been so slow in completing it. This has led me to rethink how to make the cards available, and how to expedite getting the new flashcards onto the website. So, I have begun making the Microsoft Word documents available, with the pictures and blank spaces, as a form, so you can easily enter the words for the new language, and see the picture, so you can better fit the translation to the image. I have also split up the files into smaller groups so you can just do the ones you are interested in, and it doesn’t seem like such a huge task.
Hopefully you will find this useful. I have the first chapter available, and the 5 groups from within that chapter here. Take a look and let me know what you think. I will be adding more forms in the coming weeks.
Estonian Flashcards / Updates
Just because I haven’t posted anything for several months, that doesn’t mean good things haven’t been happening!! In mid October of 2007 Cristina Saar emailed me translations of all the files - travel lists and chapters 1-10 - for the Estonian language. I have posted Chapters One and Two, and will begin posting the others as soon as I finish converting them. Cristina has been so nice to work with, and she has been extremely patient with me while I have been creating the files and sending them to her for review.
She has also been very helpful in giving suggestions for how to make it easier to create new word lists. As I am creating the Estonian flashcard files, I am taking extra time to create a standard set of picture files, with blank lines where the translation should go, that anyone can download and fill in the language they want. I may also separate the chapters so it will be easier to customize the words you want to learn. My hope is that others will be able to easily create their own files, and then upload them to share with others.
Keep checking back, or register on the site to be notified for new postings. I think you will enjoy the changes.
Shorter Word lists

Please help!!
If you can help translate a new language, or add some more chapters to an existing language, please download one of these files and complete as much as you can and email it back to me, I will create the flashcard files as soon as possible. Thanks.
(I received a suggestion to make smaller lists so the job isn’t so overwhelming, so I have split up chapters 1-5 into separate lists.)
UPDATE: links were removed as new, easier to use files are being added to the site.
German files Update
Thanks to Swapna Das, I have updated the German Chapter One and Two files to include the gender prefixes, and added Chapters Three, Four, and Five!! Check them out on the German Page.
